Mowing down of youth: Indian forces have invented a new method of genocide, says Geelani

Syed Ali Geelani, Chairman Hurriyat (G) has said that the Indian rulers are now fed up with pellets and bullets and their forces have come up with a new method of genocide of Kashmiris: crushing us under their vehicles.

Geelani was reacting to the incident where a speeding CRPF vehicle crushed 21 year old Kasier Bhat to death in Nowhatta on Friday.

In a statement Geelani said, “The so-called security forces with each passing day provide an ample proof of enforcing the much hyped “Ceasefire” by Delhi. Forces have invented a new method of genocide of Kashmiri youth. Fed up with the bullets and pallets, now the Indian rulers have started crushing us under their heavy vehicles.”

He said that in such suffocating environment no Kashmiri is safe, no individual can breathe easily courtesy of the Indian forced occupation and class of power hungry local henchmen, who can massacre the whole nation to remain in power.

Geelani said that India’s claim to be a big democracy is nothing but eyewash. “It is dreaming as an upcoming economic and business attraction, but is actually an aggressor who with its arrogance and selfishness threatens its neighbours and those whom it has occupied forcibly,” he added.

He said that India is the largest purchaser of weapons and with its military might has become a dreaded monster who engulfs humans each and every day. “Filling of graveyards by our budding youth is alarming and words fail to pay tributes and condole their bereaved families,” Geelani said.

Kaiser Bhat, 21, was ploughed down by the Central Reserve Police Force vehicle in the old city area of Nowhatta during protests on Friday. Bhat was admitted to Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), here. He succumbed to critical internal injuries early on Saturday.

Tear gas shells were fired at his funeral at Fateh Kadal Chowk on Saturday in which dozens have been injured.

Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah while reacting to the incident asked Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti that is crushing protesters to death her new SOP.

The deceased youth is survived by two teenage sisters. The family was living with their aunt in Dalgate for the past four years after both his parents had died.

One of the other injured youth identified as Mohammad Younis, as per doctors, has polytrauma. “When we received him at SKIMS hospital, he is intubated. We are monitoring his condition but he is very critical,” said an official from the hospital.

According to a report in Greater Kashmir, CRPF spokesman in Srinagar Sanjay Sharma said a group of over 500 protesters surrounded the CRPF vehicle that was ferrying a senior officer. The officer, according to Sharma, was supposed to check the deployment in the area.

The incident comes days after civilian Adil Ahmed Yadoo was mowed down by a police armoured vehicle on May 5, during protests in Safa Kadal, Srinagar.

The images of the boys being overrun by the CRPF vehicle went viral on social media, evoking sharp reactions with many mocking at the ‘truce plan’ offered by the police.
