Two army men have been wounded in the ongoing gunfight near the Line of Control (LoC) in Keran area of Kupwara district on Thursday.
Official sources told news agency GNS that army’s 6 RR intercepted a group of militants near Kacchal Post in Keran, adjacent to Chowkibal forests. After being challenged, the militants, believed to 3 to 5 in number, opened indiscriminate fire upon the army’s ambush party, triggering off a gunfight, they said.
A senior army officer based in Kupwara confirmed that two troopers suffered injuries in the incident. He said that both have been evacuated to military hospital Drugmulla for treatment.
