The photo was supposedly put on the social media feed, Instagram by spokesperson for the German Chancellor Steffen Seibert and taken by German photographer Jesco Denzel. The photo showcases the chancellor with her hands placed on the table facing a seated Donald Trump.

The photo also showcases other leaders in the background; French President Emmanuel Macron, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Director of the US National Economic Council Larry Kudlow, US national security adviser US national security adviser John Bolton, Japanese senior deputy minister for foreign affairs Kazuyuki Yamazaki, Japanese deputy chief cabinet secretary Yasutoshi Nishimura and UK Prime Minister Theresa May. The body language portrayed in the photo has been a hot topic for debate, depicting a different side of international relations not usually shown in the media.
