600 girls go missing from self styled godman’s ashram in Rajasthan

Nearly 600 girls have gone missing from self proclaimed godman Daati Maharaj’s ashram in Alawas, Rajasthan. According to a Zee News report, police are looking into the matter and probing further into the disappearance of the girls as well as the perpetrator who is currently on the run.

Daati Maharaj, founder of the Shani Dham temple, was earlier accused and booked of rape by a 25 year old woman who was an ardent follower and disciple for almost a decade. The victim was, on many occasions forced to partake in such ‘norms’ by another woman, claiming that other disciples slept with him too. She mentioned in her interview that she had suffered abuse in Delhi as well, leading her to expose the situation to her parents and seek action.

In a response to the police’s investigation, Daati Maharaj had been reported saying that the woman in question was ‘like his daughter’ and he would place no blame on her even if he was executed.

“I won’t put any allegations on that girl because she was my daughter and will continue to be that. Even if I am hanged, I won’t put allegations on her. If I have done anything wrong, then the legal authorities will look into that. I will fully cooperate in the investigation,” he said to news agency ANI.

In a similar incident, Daati has also been accused of raping a disciple two years ago in Shani Dham temple. The woman had not reported the incident immediately as she had felt intimidated by the godman.
