Bandipora operation enters 10th day, two more militants killed

In the ongoing operation in the Panar forests of Bandipora which has been going on for more than a week now, two more militants have been killed on Monday.

Official sources told news agency GNS that on Monday morning fresh gunfight broke out between militants and the joint team of army’s 14 RR, 22 RR, 52 RR, 18 RR, 28 RR, 27 RR, 31 RR, army’s 3 Para Commandos and special team of Air Force in the dense forest area of Panar.

A police officer also confirmed the killing of two militants in the operation. Cops also said that a group of at least thirteen more militants is believed to be hiding inside the woods.

On June 14, two militants and an army man was killed in the operation. The officer had said that six army men including an officer also suffered injuries so far in the ongoing operation.

“The operation was launched on June 9 when the militants and the government forces exchanged brief gunfight in Raynar forests adjacent to Panar area. The operation with the help of additional reinforcements of army’s Para Commandos continued and entered 10th straight day today,” the officer said.

He said that during the period the joint team of forces and militants exchanged intermittent firing several times.
