JK might have a new Governor after Yatra, says BJP’s Kavinder Gupta

After the Amarnath Yatra, the state might have a new governor, Former deputy chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir Kavinder Gupta, a senior BJP leader said on Tuesday, according to news agency PTI. The Yatra will start on June 28 and will continue for 2 months.

“We may consider having a new governor after the yatra is over,” the BJP leader said in a statement. The decision for NN Vohra is to stay for the period of the yatra given his extensive experience.

Vohra, 81 was appointed on June 2008 and was re-appointed again in 2013, surviving both the terms of the UPA government and the BJP led NDA coalition.

Recently Vohra wrote to the President for immediate disposition of Governor’s Rule in J and K after consulting all opposite alliances after the BJP-PDP coalition collapsed on Tuesday.
