FCIK rubbishes report that non local workers were coerced to pelt stones

FCIK President Mohammad Ashraf Mir

Federation Chamber of Industries Kashmir (FCIK) on Sunday said that baseless and un-ascertained reporting by a section of national print and electronic media regarding the coerced stone pelting is unethical and unfortunate.

In a statement FCIK said that the baseless report was denounced by the body in its administrative council meeting presided over by its President Mohammad Ashraf Mir.

“The respected promoter who was alleged to have coerced the six non local workers to pelt stones was in fact duped by the dishonest workers of quarter million rupees and to cover up the misdeed they concocted a false story to put up pressure on the hapless promoter so that they don’t have to repay the advance, ” the statement said.

The statement further added that the facts were brought to light by the timely and apt action of both the JK and UP Police who investigated the matter in professional manner and made the findings public to set the records right.

“FCIK is of the opinion that entrepreneurs are the cream of the society who not only earn for themselves but also create jobs for others which uplifts the society and mitigates the sufferings of unemployed. The role played by IGC Lassipora in industrialization of the state was applauded by FCIK and the contribution of entrepreneurs in creating the jobs was appreciated by the council,” the statement pointed out.

President Mohammad Ashraf Mir requested all media houses and media persons to report everything pertaining to Kashmir Industry with due diligence and hear the perspective of the stake holders before reporting anything that can disturb the harmony and vitiate the atmosphere of the state.
