One arrested, another at large for creating fake website of JK Bank, says Police

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday arrested a man allegedly involved in creating a fake website of the Jammu and Kashmir Bank.

In a case lodged at Police Station Kothi Bagh, FIR No 14/2018 under section 414 RPC, 66C Information Technology Act, the accused has been arrested in relation to the cyber crime and cheating, confirmed a police spokesperson.

“The case was registered on 11-03-2018 after a written complaint was received from Khursheed Muzafar, Chief Information Security Officer of J&K bank,” the spokesperson said.

During the course of investigation, two persons Ilyas Ahmad Mir, a resident of Brazloo, Kulgam and Junaid Bashir, a resident of Dal Hassanyaar, Habba Kadal, Srinagar were found to be involved in creating a fake website of J&K Bank for some ulterior motives, the spokesperson further stated.

“One of the accused Junaid Basheer was arrested yesterday. Further investigation in the case is going on,” he added.
