Pak NSA Naseer Janjua resigns amid reports of differences caretaker PM

National Security Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Naseer Khan Janjua resigned from his post on Wednesday after serving on the position for almost three years. According to the media reports, the resignation comes amid his differences with the Prime Minister Nasirul Mulk.

According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division, the resignation has been accepted by the Prime Minister.

Naseer Khan was appointed as NSA on October 22nd, 2015 with a status of minister of state.

After graduating from Pakistan Military Academy’s (PMA) 59th class, Naseer was commissioned in the Punjab Regiment. Naseer’s military career also saw active service in Siachen against Indian army.

Later in 2006, he was posted as director-general of Military Operations (MO) and served under Lieutenant-General (retired) Ahmad Shuja Pasha (later DG ISI). He was also seen active in military negotiation with Indian Army on 23 May 2006 to avoid military accidents at the LoC.
