A minor killed, four others injured while ‘playing with an explosive device’ in Shopian

Srinagar: One child was killed and many others were injured when an explosive device they were playing with exploded at Memander Shopian, police said on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Saaliq Khursheed. He was 11.

While confirming the incident to Free Press Kashmir, an official from the police department in Shopian said, “The kids had been to Kundalan encounter site from where they brought an unexploded shell and were playing with it when it exploded.”

On Tuesday, forces killed two militants during a Kundalan gunfight. A civilian was also killed during protests near the gunfight site.

Meanwhile, injured have been shifted to Srinagar hospital for specialised treatment.
