Srinagar: Students from southern Kashmir studying in Kashmir University and Islamic University of Science and Technology Awantipora have asked their varsities to postpone exams scheduled for today.

The students requested the university to postpone the exams keeping in consideration the strike call given by Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) over civilian killings in Kashmir.

“We are unable to travel to Exam Centres during strike calls,” Aqib Ahmed, a student from Memander Shopian, writing his 5th Semester exams said.

Another student of BG Sixth semester alleged that the University is Srinagar-centred saying, “If even a small incident takes place in Srinagar they postpone exams, while exams are held as per schedule when anything happens in South Kashmir.”

Another student Danish from Memander Shopian said, “I tried to visit Awantipora last evening as my exam is scheduled today but was forced to come back from Arihal Pulwama as there was an undeclared curfew in Pulwama main town.”

“Last time I was travelling to my examination centre in Islamabad township and we were caught between stone pelting and tear gas shelling,” Sheezan Manzoor, a student of Kashmir University said.

The students from Pulwama have also narrated the same concerns and have requested authorities to cancel todays’ paper.
