Srinagar: Clashes erupted in north Kashmir’s Trehgam on Thursday between protesters and armed forces after the slain youth was laid to rest.

Reports said armed forces fired pellets after protesters resorted to stone pelting. Several were injured in the process.

On Wednesday, the slain youth, identified as Khalid Ahmad Malik, son of Abdul Gafar Malik of Bun Pora Trehgam, was killed in army firing.

Curfew was imposed on Thursday morning following the gunfight as a ‘precautionary measure’. Strict restrictions were in place for the rest of the district.

Internet services have also been suspended in Kupwara district and various parts of Sopore tehsil.
