BJP trailing in Ladakh’s Hill Development Council polls, counting on

Congress, PDP, NC get one seat each, counting on

Srinagar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is trailing behind so far in Kargil’s Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), which went to polls earlier this week.

Congress, PDP, National Conference (NC) and an Independent have got one seat each out of the four for which counting has completed.

Polling for 26 of the 30 seats of LAHDC was held on 27 August. The other four seats will be filled through nomination.

The elections to 26 seats of the powerful Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Kargil, on Monday witnessed an overwhelming participation in the remote parts of the district with around 75 per cent voters turning up at polling booths to decide the fate of 99 candidates.

BJP andidate Stanzin Lakpa won Cha Constituency.

According to reports, the counting is taking time as the polling was conducted through ballots.
