Hurriyat (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq expressed deep shock on Twitter over the Uri gangrape and murder incident that had took place in Baramulla, and said that the incident was ‘deeply saddening’.
“Extremely shocked at the details of the horrific rape and murder of a minor girl child by her family members in Uri! The heartlessness and moral turpitude shown by the perpetrators of this crime is unbelievable and deeply saddening. It calls for severe punishment to the accused,” Mirwaiz wrote on Twitter.

Earlier, on Tuesday, the Jammu and Kashmir police, in statement said that they had arrested five persons involved in the gang rape and murder of a minor girl in Uri area of Baramulla district.
Those arrested include her step mother and step brother.
A police spokesman said that an FIR was registered after a written complaint from the girl’s father on August 24 in which he stated that he feared his nine-year-old daughter has been abducted.
“On receipt of this complaint, case FIR No. 43/2018 under section 363 RPC was registered in P/S Boniyar and investigation was taken up. Thereafter police made strenuous efforts to trace the missing girl by utilizing the available resources however the girl could not be traced out,” said the spokesman.
