Former Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu, who was dropped from the cabinet for his controversial remark that ‘Kashmir is not a political issue’ in March, was appointed as a member of PDP’s Political Affairs Committee. \
The decision was taken by the party president and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti. Also Altaf Bukhari, who took over a Finance Minister after Drabu’s ouster, was inducted into the Committee.

In March, former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti dropped the then finance minister Drabu from her council of ministers after his “Kashmir is not a political issue but a society with social issues” remarks while speaking at a function in New Delhi.
Though he had later sought to clarify that he had said that Kashmir was not only a political issue but also a society with social issues and blamed “misreporting” on a “cub reporter” of a news agency.
