At least four civilians were killed in an airstrike and eight others wounded in Maroof district in Kandahar province, local officials confirmed, TOLONews reported.

Taliban attacked Khogyani and Ishaqzai villages in Maroof district Thursday night but were faced with government forces’ resistance, the media office of the provincial governor said in a statement.

He said the Afghan National Police force members asked for air support and Taliban had hidden in people’s houses and therefore civilian casualties happened in the airstrike.

The statement confirms the death of three women and a child in the airstrike. The statement said seven women and a child were wounded in the attack.

Meanwhile, the statement said that eight Taliban including three Pakistani nationals were killed in the airstrike.

Taliban has not commented on the report.
