Municipal Polls: After casting vote, BJP candidate dies of cardiac arrest

Srinagar: A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate, Azad Singh Raju, from ward two of Ramban municipality in Jammu and Kashmir suffered cardiac arrest on Wednesday.

Reports said that Raju died soon after casting his vote at Sunaari mohallah in Ramban town during the ongoing second phase of municipal elections. A retired employee, Singh was 62. Meanwhile, over 12 per cent votes were polled in four wards of Banihal municipality till 8 am.

Meanwhile, according to official figures, till 10:am, 0.8 percent polling was recorded in Srinagar. In Anantnag, it was 0.6 percent. In Bandipora, it was 14.2 percent, Baramulla recorded 3.0 percent.
