Kashmir Municipal polls: Congress wins 12 wards of Bandipora MC, all seven of Banihal MC

Srinagar: Congress has won 12 of the seventeen wards of Bandipora municipal committee elections.

Officials said that Congress won 12 while BJP secured 3 wards. One of the other two wards was won by an independent candidate while the other ward remained uncontested.

Meanwhile, Congress has won all the seven wards of Banihal Municipal Committee.

Officials said that all the 7 wards were secured by the Congress candidates in the recently concluded Civic polls.

The counting for the polls began at 8 am on Saturday while the elections concluded on October 16.

For the Srinagar municipal corporation, the counting is being held at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar and for the Jammu municipal corporation it is being held at the Polytechnic Institute near Bikram Chowk.

For other districts of the state, counting is being held at the respective district headquarters.

Tight security arrangements have been made all across the state.
