Srinagar: A conference titled, ‘Burning Heaven’ was held in Qom, Iran, in solidarity with the people of the conflict-stricken region of Kashmir and was organised by Tehreek e Ittehad Ummat Jammu and Kashmir.

The conference was presided over by Ayatollah Akhtari, the Chairman of the World Ahlulbayt Assembly.

During his speech at the conference, Ayatollah Akhtari urged Muslim communities to support Kashmir. The leader also condemned the ‘brutal killings’ in Kashmir.

Ayatollah Ustad Ahmed Aabidi, in his speech, condemned the recent killings in the Valley and urged world bodies to pay attention towards Kashmir. He said that the time was not far when Kashmir would regain its previous position and peace would prevail in the Valley.

Large gatherings of students from different nations attended the ‘Solidarity Conference’. Special prayers were also held for the people of Kashmir.

27 October, which is considered a ‘Black Day’ in Kashmir following the landing of Indian armed forces in the valley 71 years ago, would also be observed over there.

A complete shutdown is being observed in Kashmir today.

All the business establishments, markets, schools, colleges, and transport across the valley are closed. The Joint Resistance Leadership had called for a complete strike to mark the “black day” in the history of Kashmir.

This comes after a slave of killings were reported in the previous two weeks, with the recently concluded Municipal polls recording victory for the BJP in four south Kashmir districts.

The killings included slain scholar-turned-militants, Mannan Wani, Sabzar Sofi, and recent civilian killings in the Kulgam carnage, which led to widespread condemnation from resistance leaders and intense clashes throughout the region.
