Kishtwar: Angry mobs attack police station, curfew declared, Sec 144 imposed, Internet shut down

Srinagar: The situation in Kishtwar is tense after Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) State Secretary Anil Pariharm was shot dead along with his brother, when they were traveling in a car in Kishtawar District, of Jammu region of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to reports, many police personnel have been physically abused and beaten by angry mobs after the incident happened. SHO and SSP Kishtwar have been reportedly attacked, and both of them have sustained injuries.

Official sources told Free Press Kashmir that a curfew has been declared by the authorities in Kishtwar town.

The District Magistrate (Deputy Commissioner) has issued an order for imposition of a curfew to prevent any mobilisation of “unlawful assemblies” that can endanger life and property of the residents of Kishtwar Town.

Internet has also been shut down in the region.

While, BJP State President Ravinder Raina stated that the incident happed, it is unclear as of now who the attackers were.
