Creator of world-famous comic figures, Stan Lee died at the age of 95, his daughter revealed Monday. Stan Lee was universally known as the creator of Spider-Man, Iron Man and scores of other characters that became mythic figures in pop culture.
“He felt an obligation to his fans to keep creating,” his daughter JC Lee said in a statement to Reuters news agency. “He loved his life and he loved what he did for a living. His family loved him and his fans loved him. He was irreplaceable.”
Kirk Schenck, a lawyer for Lee’s daughter said that the 95 year old was declared dead in Los Angeles’s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He did not disclose the cause of death.
Lee’s works were critically acclaimed for including depth and complexity into his characters, making them seem more humane, despite having the garb of supernatural. In 2008, Lee was awarded the National Medal of Arts, the highest government award for creative artists.
Comic characters created by Stan Lee include The Incredible Hulk, Iron-Man, and Spider-Man.
“I felt it would be fun to learn a little about their private lives, about their personalities and show that they are human as well as super,” Lee told NPR News in 2010.
Upto dozens of Marvel Comics movies produced generated $20 billion worldwide, box office analysts revealed. Main lead actors who starred in the movies expressed shock and anguish over the news of his death.
Actor Chris Evans, best known for his role as Captain America, on Twitter, wrote: “There will never be another Stan Lee. For decades he provided both young and old with adventure, escape, comfort, confidence, inspiration, strength, friendship and joy. He exuded love and kindness and will leave an indelible mark on so, so, so many lives. Excelsior!!”

Tom Holland, who played Spiderman in the most recent movies of the Marvel universe, on Instagram said: “How many millions of us are indebted to this guy, none more so than me. The father of Marvel has made so many people so incredibly happy. What a life and what a thing to have achieved. Rest in peace Stan.”
Hugh Jackman, who played Wolverine, in the Wolverine movie franchise, wrote on Twitter: “We’ve lost a creative genius. Stan Lee was a pioneering force in the superhero universe.
