Srinagar: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National Vice President and Incharge J&K affairs Avinash Rai Khanna has said that the defeat of BJP in states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chatisgarh is a verdict against the performance of BJP government in these states but not against the central government led by Narendra Modi.
“The verdict against BJP in three states Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chatisgarh is a verdict against the BJP’s state governments but not against the performance of the central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
Claiming that state assembly elections are fought on local issues concerning MLAs, the BJP National vice president said, “The verdict of the people in three states is not against the central government but against the performance of state government including the ministers and MLAs of the ruling party. BJP has increased its vote share by one percent in Madhya Pradesh and is just 1.5 percent below the vote share of the Congress party in Rajasthan.”
Saying that 33 crore people to whom the present government has given huge concessions like gas connections will be the target for 2019 assembly elections, Khanna said, “We are presently looking into the causes of the suicide attempts of farmers in some states but these suicide incidents have been witnessed in Punjab also where the government is run by the Congress party.”
Saying that the biggest achievement of the Modi government is the crusade against corruption, the BJP National Vice president while replying to questions on Rafael deal and a case filed against Amit Shah’s son Jay Shah said, “I can’t comment on Rafael deal as the matter is sub judicious before the Supreme Court of the country and as far as allegations against Jay Shah, the son of Amit Shah, are concerned he has submitted his reply to the Supreme Court of India and law will take its own course.”
Replying to a question on the resignation of RBI Governor Urjit Patel, Khanna said, “I can’t comment on the resignation of RBI Governor but I can say that hours after his resignation, government has appointed a new Governor for RBI.”
