If voted to power with absolute majority, will bring Autonomy resolution within a month, says Abdullah

Farooq Abdullah, patron of the National Conference on Thursday said that if they are voted to power with absolute majority, they will bring in the autonomy resolution within a month.

While welcoming expelled ex-BJP MLA Gagan Bhagat into the party fold, Abdulah said, “If am blessed with good health by Allah and we’re voted to power with absolute majority, I promise that I will make this happen (regional autonomy) within 30 days after assuming power.”

Bhagat joined the National Conference in presence of party president Abdullah.

Abdullah, added, “Our party will work for the development of all the regions and all the faiths living in the State, be it Hindus, Muslims, Christians and Sikhs.”

Bhagat, the ex-BJP MLA from RS Pura Assembly Segment, was expelled from party after Supreme Court rejected his petition that sought dissolution of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly by Governor SP Malik, earlier this month.

Days after the BJP’s Jammu and Kashmir unit expelled Bhagat, he accused the saffron party of being ‘anti-Dalit’ and alleged he was victimised for being one.

Going against the party line, Bhagat had on December 3 moved the Supreme Court challenging the dissolution of state assembly. The apex court, however, dismissed his petition, saying there was no merit in the pleas filed by the former legislator.

He was expelled by the BJP on the same day with immediate effect for his “continued indiscipline, anti-party and anti-Jammu activities.”
