Srinagar: An army man who was critically injured in a gunfight with militants in Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday succumbed at the army’s command hospital in Udhampur.
Quoting official sources, news agency GNS reported that the soldier identified as Sepoy Nehminlan Haokip of 42 RR was airlifted to Udhampur where he succumbed to injuries.
A police officer also confirmed the death of the soldier to GNS.
Two militants affiliated with the Hizbul Mujahideen were killed earlier.
Earlier, a gunfight broke out after the forces launched a cordon and search operation (CASO) in Gulshanpora area of Tral. Authorities had snapped the mobile internet services in Tral and Awantipora areas of the south Kashmir district.
