Srinagar: Two militants were killed in a fierce gunfight in Katapora village of Yaripora in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Saturday.
Intense clashes have erupted near the gunfight site in Yaripora area of Kulgam district on Saturday.
Reports said that youth took to streets and pelted forces with stones near the site of a gunfight. Forces responded by firing tear gas shells, triggering further clashes.
Earlier, a gunfight broke out between militants and the armed forces in Katpora village of Yaripora in Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
Reports said that a joint team of army’s 50RR, CRPF, and SOG cordoned off the area after having inputs regarding the presence of some militants.
Reports said that while the forces intensified searches towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon triggering a gunfight.
According to reports, two to three militants are believed to be trapped.
Meanwhile, internet services have been suspended in the area.
