After armed forces claim arresting Hizb militant, outfit disowns man, says it ‘came as a joke’

Srinagar: Militant outfit Hizb-ul-Mujahideen on Monday disowned, Sarfaraz Ahmad Sheer who was arrested in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district today by the armed forces.

Hizb Operational Spokesman, Burhan-u-Din in a tele-statement to KNS refuted the police claims, saying that Sarfaraz was not affiliated with Hizb. He said that “police claims about the arrest of Hizb militant came as surprising joke to them.”

The Indian Army on Monday claimed that they arrested a top Hizbul Mujahideen militant in Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

An Army spokesperson said that the militant Sarfaraz Ahmed Sheer is an ‘A’ category militant and was active from the last four years.

The spokesperson said that ‘on a tip off’ from Jammu and Kashmir Police, a joint team of army’s 13 RR , 162 Territorial Army including police apprehended a militant Sarfaraz Ahmed Sheer of Koil Muqam, Tangpathri Bandipora.

He said the said suspected militant was apprehended in a joint mobile vehicle check post (MVCP) at Champazpura (near Ajas.

He said the “individual has been apprehended with pistol, satellite phone and other war like stores.
