Will receive Modi with black flags to protest Delhi’s ‘colonial mindset, loot of state resources’: Rashid

Srinagar: AIP Chief and former lawmaker Engineer Rashid, in a statement said that his party will receive Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi with black flags to protest the “colonial mindset” of New Delhi and the “loot of the state’s resources.”

Modi will arrive in Jammu and Kashmir for a day’s visit on February 3. During his visit, he will lay the foundation stone of a host of projects, including the AIIMS project at Vijaypur area of Samba district.

In a statement, Rashid expressed “deep concern” over the proposed MOU to be signed between the state government, Centre and NHPC for starting work on 850MW Rettle power Project.

“While the State Power Development Corporation is competent enough to construct Rettle or any other Power Project, New Delhi seems to be adamant to looting our resources and is always utilizing services of NHPC like East India Company,” the former lawmaker said in a statement.

Rashid said the state was supposed to get back power projects from the NHPC, according to the Agenda for Alliance between the PDP and the BJP.

“It is shameful that New Delhi is misusing governor’s office and position to loot the resources of the state and is eying Sawalkote, Kirthai-I and Kirthai-II projects having a capacity of 3200 MW.”
