Around 17 students injured in ‘mysterious blast’ at Pulwama school, clashes erupt

Srinagar: In a mysterious blast, that took place in a private school in Pulwama, around 17 students have been injured.

Reports said that a blast took place inside a private school in Narbal area of Kakapora where the students were receiving winter tuition around 2 pm.

The Medical Officer of Kakpora told Greater Kashmir that fourteen students with splinter injuries were brought to the facility for treatment.

“Three among the injured were referred to Srinagar for specialised treatment,” he said, adding that the students had received injuries mostly in their limbs. Three more injured were shifted to district hospital Pulwama for treatment.

Meanwhile clashes erupted in the area as soon as police arrived at the spot.

The policemen resorted to tear gas shelling to disperse the protesters, triggering further clashes.
Reports added that announcements were being made over the public address system of a mosque asking youth not to engage in stone-pelting.
