Sopore gunfight: Militant killed, search operation ongoing, Sec 144 imposed in area

Srinagar: A militant was killed in a gunfight with armed forces’ in an ongoing operation in Warpora area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday, Global News Service (GNS) reported.

Quoting an official source, news gathering agency GNS reported that a militant was killed in the ongoing gunfight. However the body of the killed militant is yet to be recovered.

Locals said that the exchange of gunfire started late last night following an eight-hour-long search operation. They said that two militants were believed to be trapped in the area.

Authorities suspended mobile Internet services and imposed restrictions under Section 144 CRPC in the area.

“In view of the apprehension of law and order problem, restrictions under Section 144 CRPC are hereby imposed on the gathering of more than 4 persons in entire Sub-division Sopore with effect from evening 21-02- 2019 till further orders,” read an order issued by the Additional District Magistrate Sopore, reported GNS.
