Any tinkering with state subject law will be fought tooth and nail, reiterates JRL

Srinagar: The Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik on Tuesday reiterated that any tinkering with the state subject law through judicial route will be resisted tooth and nail by the people.

In a statement JRL said that the case regarding Article 35-A is again coming up for hearing in the Supreme Court of India on March 6 and 7.

“A high level delegation of bar association lawyers has already reached Delhi who will be monitoring and defending it .The team will keep leadership intimated and people will be likewise informed,” the JRL said.

The trio said that in the past also many efforts were made and “many ploys employed to damage the disputed status of Kashmir but people through their stiff resistance always foiled such designs and this time also”.

Meanwhile, Kashmir observed a shutdown against the ban on Jamaat-e-Islami and the assault on Article 35-A.

All shops and other commercial establishments remained closed in the business hub of Lal Chowk in summer capital Srinagar. Reports of shutdown were also received from other districts of the valley.

A complete shutdown was also observed in Banihal township and its adjoining markets on the Srinagar-Jammu highway. Shutdown was also observed in Khari-Aarpinchla tehsil.
