Sopore gunfight: Police officer, PSO wounded

Srinagar: A police officer and his personal security officer were wounded in an ongoing gunfight between militants and the armed forces in Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday.

An official said that the militants hurled a grenade at the forces during a search operation in Warpora area today morning.

SHO Dangiwacha Mudasir Geelani and his PSO Javed Ahmad were wounded in the blast, he said, adding that both of them have been shifted to Srinagar for specialized treatment.

Reports said that one or two militants are believed to be trapped including a top commander. Internet has been also suspended in parts of Sopore as a precautionary measures, said the report.
