Civilian killed in Kupwara as protestors clash with armed forces after polling ends

Srinagar: A civilian believed to be in his teenage was killed after protestors clashed with armed forces in Langate area of district Kupwara after the end of polling for the Baramulla parliamentary constituency on Thursday.

Reports said that civilians took to streets in Mandigam village of Langate and clashed with the forces after the polling ended this evening.

According to reports the armed forces fired pellets to quell the protests, resulting in death of a teen, identified as Owais Mir, a resident of Mandigam.

Medical Superintendent district hospital Handwara Dr Rouf said that the teen was brought to the facility for treatment.

“He had suffered multiple pellet injuries and was declared dead on arrival at the facility,” he said.
