Kishtwar: Several ‘over ground workers’ detained in connection with RSS leader’s killing, says Police

The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday said that they have detained several ‘over-ground workers’ (OGWs) for interrogation in connection with the killing of an RSS leader and his PSO in Kishtwar district.

We have picked up some people, commonly known as over-ground workers. We suspect their involvement. They are being interrogated,” Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Zone, M K Sinha, told reporters.

“An operation is on (to track down the gunman involved in the attack). The person has not been identified so far. We are trying to identify him,” he said.

On Tuesday, RSS leader Chandrakant Sharma was killed inside the premises of District Hospital Kishtwar where he was working as a medical assistant at hospital’s out-patient (OPD) department. His PSO Rajinder Kumar was also killed while his service rifle was taken by the gunmen.

Meanwhile, curfew remains in place in the district.
