Stones pelted on Mehbooba Mufti’s motorcade in South Kashmir, Omar condemns incident

Srinagar: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti’s motorcade was attacked on Monday by stone-pelters in Anantnag district.

Police sources said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader was returning after paying obeisance at a Dargah in Khiram village, when some people stoned the cavalcade which was on way to Bijbehara town in Anantnag district.

A vehicle was damaged in the incident but the armed forces immediately cordoned off the area to provide a safe passage to the PDP President, informed sources said.

One armed forces personnel was inured in the incident.

Former Chief Minster and National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah, has condemned the incident.

“Most unfortunate. We condemn this attack & send our best wishes to her injured SSG security person for a speedy recovery,” Omar wrote on twitter.
