The Supreme Court on Thursday said that the Ayodhya Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid land title case will be heard in an open court on August 2 and the final report is to be submitted by July 31, reported the India Today.
A Constitution bench, headed by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi, directed the panel headed by former SC Judge F M Ibrahim Kalifulla, to provide an update on the progress of the mediation as on July 31.
Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi said, “We now fix the date of hearing on August 2. We request the mediation committee to inform the outcome of the proceedings as of July 31.”
On July 11, the Supreme Court had asked the three-member mediation panel to submit its status report by July 18 (today). The court said this while hearing a bunch of petitions that had requested it to end the mediation process and the hear the Ayodhya case on a daily basis. The court had asked the petitioner to wait for the mediation panel to submit its report.
The mediation panel comprises of former Supreme Court judge FMI Kalifulla, spiritual guru and founder of Art of Living foundation Sri Sri Ravishankar and senior advocate Sriram Panchu, a renowned mediator. They were tasked to explore ways to find an amicable solution to the decades-old land title dispute.
