Army was recently called for flag march in Kishtwar following killing of RSS leader

Srinagar: Armed forces will not allow militancy to revive in Kishtwar in wake of the recent killing of a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader in the district, General Officer in Commanding, White Knight Corps, Maj Gen Paramjit Singh on Saturday said.

He said that many arrests have also been made into the killing of the RSS leader and his PSO.

Lt Gen Paramjit Singh said that 513 incidents of ceasefire violation have taken place along the Line of Control in last one and a half month. “Indian army has given befitting reply to every mischievous act of Pakistan army,” he said.

Army was recently called for a flag march amid curfew in Kishtwar district following the attack on RSS leader inside a hospital where he worked as a medical assistant.

His PSO was killed on the spot in the attack while gunmen decamped with the rifle of the slain policeman.

Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Angrez Singh Rana had said that army had been called to carry a flag march while curfew was imposed soon after the incident to ‘prevent any law and order disturbance’.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police had said that they have detained several ‘over-ground workers’ (OGWs) for interrogation in connection with the killing.
